Prague plans bid for Czech GP

(GMM) The Czech Republic appears to be the latest name to have joined the queue for a grand prix in the future.

The central European country is believed to be planning a new privately-funded Formula One-style circuit for the capital and largest city, Prague.

The Czech proposal, reportedly backed by Lord Mayor Pavel Bem, would be designed by regular F1 architect Hermann Tilke and located in the district of Prague 10, according to Czech daily Mlada Fronta Dnes.

"(The proposal), which includes areas for a new hotel and other infrastructure, is still in the very earliest planning stages," a report by the international broadcaster 'Radio Praha' added.

[Editor's Note: Three years ago when Champ Car tried to race in South Korea, instantly rumors surfaced that F1 was going there. When the Champ Car street race in Manchester, England rumors surfaced, instantly a street race for F1 in London surfaced. When Champ Car was rumored to be eyeing South Africa, immediately Cape Town F1 race rumors surfaced. Champ Car is rumored to be eyeing a possible race at Brno and instantly an F1 race materializes in the Czech Republic. A coincidence? Perhaps. Or is it Bernie trying to undermine Champ Car's overseas growth? Bernie leaves no stone unturned.]
