Mexico City chicane to be altered

Many a complaint was aimed at the Mickey Mouse chicane the Champ Cars had to use at this year's Mexico City race to slow the cars before the blind and fast Peraltada corner. The request from Champ Car to bypass the stadium and install the chicane came too late for the promoter OCESA to apply for the necessary permits to construct the chicane as originally intended. Forced to make use of existing pavement, the chicane ended up being a major compromise. Word is that next year a proper chicane will be installed that involves laying new asphalt adjacent to the existing race surface.
