Las Vegas race poised to be blockbuster

UPDATE This rumor is upgraded to 'fact' today. Not only did the race promoter announce a title sponsor for the race today, but ticket sales to corporate sponsors are going so well for the Vegas Grand Prix that there was a worry that there would not be any grandstand seat availability for race fans so the promoter said today that they have decided to add 35% more seats and "it's the biggest event of this kind I have ever been involved with."

08/14/06 According to AutoRacing1.com, casinos are buying up tickets for Champ Car's 2007 inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix at a brisk rate, with over 20,000 already sold. Although the tickets have not gone on sale to the general public yet, casinos up and down the strip want to offer tickets to their best customers. Because the race is "downtown in Vegas" and not associated with a particular casino, the other casinos do not view the race as owned by a competing casino, hence the keen interest.

We also hear that potential sponsors of the series are showing an increased interest now that Champ Car will race in The City that Never Sleeps. We are told that the hospitality suites that will be built for the event will be superior to all other street circuits.
