Brawn to return to Ferrari

Ferrari’s former technical director Ross Brawn says he hopes to renew his professional relationship with the Maranello squad after his current sabbatical.

Brawn’s departure from Ferrari – coinciding with the retirement of Michael Schumacher, in whose career he played such a central role – was confirmed at the end of the 2006 season.

At the time it was not clarified whether it would be permanent – or temporary, presaging his return, possibly as team principal, in 2008.

In an exclusive interview with ITV Sport’s James Allen, Brawn confirmed that he would like to work for Ferrari again in the future.

“I felt 10 years for me at Ferrari would be a milestone and that it would be a good time at 52 years old to take a gap year and then look for the next challenge, which I hope comes from within Ferrari," he said.

“But 10 years of doing what I’ve been doing has been fantastic, a great opportunity, wonderful experience and I just felt that personally I need the next challenge." ITV/F1
