The end of IROC?
UPDATE A reader writes, When push comes to shove the France family is probably more concerned about getting a sponsor for the Busch series which also needs a sponsor. I remember the first IROC in 1974 when it was done the right way. All the drivers drove Porsches on road courses and no NASCAR drivers won. One driver, Bobby Allison called the Porsches "expensive Corvairs." What a dolt! Doug Ferguson
12/30/06 One can only hope as this NASCAR-centric series is so one-sided it proves nothing. With Crown Royal’s backing now over, the hunt for a 2007 sponsor has so far come up empty handed. The France family will have to step in and bail this series out so IROC can, with all the advantage it gives to NASCAR drivers, continue to make it look like NASCAR drivers are the best. We have said for a long time that IROC should be run in open wheel cars, where NASCAR drivers will finish last each and every race. In fact no NASCAR driver has ever run well in an open wheel car. Meanwhile open wheel drivers go to NASCAR and dominate (Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart the two latest).
