Rossi’s Ferrari link to strengthen in 2007?

(GMM) A link between Valentino Rosso and Ferrari looks set to continue in 2007, with rumors that the Italian's MotoGP campaign this year could be sponsored by Fiat.

The flamboyant Italian rider tested extensively for Ferrari last year, but ultimately signed a contract to stay on two wheels in 2007 with Yamaha.

The Italian carmaker Fiat part-owns Ferrari.

Fiat's affection for 27-year-old Rossi is well known, and the Financial Times revealed this week that Fiat brand manager Lapo Elkann wears a 'Rossi' pendent around his neck.

Elkann's brother, John, is Fiat's vice chairman.
