GM to scale back NASCAR effort
This Autoextremeist article says, What about the rumor that has GM dramatically scaling back its NASCAR expenditures at the end of the 2008 season? There's a searing hot fire behind this smoke, folks. As GM becomes more interested in crafting a global image, watch for GM to put more money into other forms of motorsport and experiential marketing programs – and reduce its investment in the France family's Circus Maximus. And speaking of NASCAR, what about the rumor that Toyota was so deeply embarrassed by the fiasco that unfolded at Daytona Beach before the Daytona 500 when its new NASCAR teams were cited for cheating that it has already gone as far as to identify other teams that it would like to affiliate with in case its relationship with Michael Waltrip can't be salvaged? And one of the teams that Toyota has its eyes on is currently sporting a Chevrolet bowtie emblem – a team that normally wouldn't consider an overture from Toyota, but given GM's rumored plans, they're considering "all options" for the future. This one is pegging the AE Rumor meter at the very top.
