Eddie Gossage rejects IRL

UPDATE The IRL's search for a new chief operating officer need not stop in Texas. When it was learned that Brian Barnhart would be replaced as COO, the word was that Tony George wanted to pursue Eddie Gossage, who runs Texas Motor Speedway for Bruton Smith.

"I haven't spoken to Tony since last June but it doesn't matter because I have the perfect job and I work for the greatest guy," said Gossage, who embraced the IRL early and scheduled two races a year until 2003.Bruton is more of a friend than a boss and I'm totally happy here. I don't know for sure there's even a job open in Indy but I'm not interested."
