Spyker might not run Friday driver at Sepang

(GMM) Despite previous reports to the contrary, it is now not certain that test driver Fairuz Fauzy will appear for the Spyker team on the Friday of the Malaysian GP.

Spyker did not run a Friday driver in Melbourne because of the Giedo van der Garde affair, but it was believed that part of Fauzy's new contract with the Dutch team was the guarantee of a Friday drive at his home circuit at Sepang.

But on the back of news that Spyker will sit out the pre-event Sepang test, Fauzy told the New Straits Times: "The team is still probably having some budget constraints.

"So whether or not I'll be part of the Friday testing prior to the Malaysian grand prix still isn't confirmed yet.

"I hope I'll get the chance. But nothing is confirmed yet."

Fairuz will also race in the Formula Renault 3.5 World Series in 2007.
