Bernie to form Asia GP2 series

Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone has expressed a desire to form a GP2 winter series in Asia, this week's Autosport Magazine reports.

"I want to make sure that we bring GP2 to Asia in the winter," Ecclestone told Autosport during the Malaysian Grand Prix weekend.

"Hopefully we will get to find a few Asian drivers through the exposure. You can't just pick anyone out of a saloon car," Ecclestone added.

"Really, we have to run a championship in Asia at a higher level, and then for sure we're going to find more drivers."
