Glock joins Sutil as possible Ralf replacement

UPDATE (GMM) BMW-Sauber test driver and GP2 series leader Timo Glock on Friday issued a hammer-blow to rumors that he might move to Toyota as a replacement for the Japanese team's beleaguered Ralf Schumacher some time soon.

In Montreal as a television commentator, he told the German broadcaster 'Premiere': "I feel very comfortable at the moment at BMW and I am also concentrating on my job in the GP2 (series).

"I was astonished when I read about the rumors on the internet. Where they came from, I have no idea."

06/08/07 (GMM) The speculation surrounding Ralf Schumacher's future continues to hum in the Montreal paddock.

Spyker's Adrian Sutil was already linked with the seat, and now a third German – BMW-Sauber test driver Timo Glock – is apparently clamoring for the ride, it emerged on Friday.

24-year-old Glock impressed in GP2 last year, after racing a few times for Jordan in 2004. He is leading F1's support series this year for iSport.

"With half a good season last year, I created this opportunity (at BMW), so who knows what I can do with a whole season," he said recently.

According to the rumors, either Glock or Sutil could join Toyota even within the next few races, depending on Ralf's performance in North America, although their respective contracts – and also Schumacher's – could be obstacles.

Sutil commented on Thursday: "Of course I don't mind these types of rumors, but it does not mean that they are true.

"I have noticed that there is some more interest in my performances now, but it is too early to say that there are any negotiations," he added.
