Alonso could be stripped of pole

UPDATE #2 This rumor goes from ‘false' to 'fact' as our initial source that told us the officials were not investigating Alonso were incorrect. He has since been stripped of his pole position.

08/04/07 This rumor is downgraded to 'false' which is sure to get the British media in even more of a frenzy. It is understood that stewards are not investigating McLaren's delayed final qualifying pit stop, despite Ron Dennis making a visit to race control after the session.

08/04/07 Fernando Alonso could lose his pole position for the Hungarian GP as the British media, who heavily favor their Lewis Hamilton, have their panties in a knot over the controversy that Alonso held up Lewis Hamilton and denied him a run at pole.

"You can ask the team," Alonso said. "They do the calculations. They find the gaps. I just drive the car."

While Alonso sat impassively in the pits, with Hamilton waiting behind to be serviced, McLaren personnel, including team principal Ron Dennis, frantically waved at their driver to vacate the box.

Afterwards Dennis was furious, grabbing Alonso's Spanish-speaking trainer and marching him down to Parc Ferme, where a staged team celebration shot was then put on for waiting photographers.

ITV Sport's Ted Kravitz attempted to get a clearly annoyed Dennis's view on the issue but was rebuffed twice.

"We will discuss it later when it's been discussed in the team," he declared.

There will no doubt the an investigation into the whole business and it is possible that Alonso could face an impeding charge which could mean that Alonso will have to start from the back of the grid. The FIA Stewards may also decide to take away Alonso's best lap time which would drop him to eighth on the grid.
