Liverpool soccer owner eyes NASCAR team

Tom Hicks, the co-owner of Liverpool FC, has held talks with a major NASCAR racing team about a possible investment in the sport.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Hicks met up Richard Childress, owner of Richard Childress Racing, in order to investigate opportunities in the sport.

"We would like to be opportunistic and would consider making an investment in the sport if we thought a deal created value for the team and us," Hicks said.

George Gillett, Hicks' partner in the Liverpool acquisition, is a major investor in Ray Evernham's NASCAR team. Gillett and Evernham joined forces in early August to form Gillett Evernham Racing.

Hicks is also the owner of the Texas Rangers baseball team, the Dallas Stars hockey team and the Mesquite Championship Rodeo.
