Why Alonso now faster than Hamilton
1) Hamilton has been getting favoritism from his team (that presumably allowed him to unfairly outdrive Alonso on occasion)
2) How Alonso "has stopped the favoritism".
I follow a lot of F1 sources, and I haven't seen any reports to those effects. Maybe Mark has some kind of scoop there. Larry Balch
Dear Larry, Ask yourself this question. Why was it that Alonso was rumored to be wanting out of his contract at McLaren? Answer, because of how he was being treated. The British team members were seen cheering Hamilton over Alonso on more than one occasion.
Alonso finally put his foot down and threatened to leave. The rumors of his departure began immediately. It then emerged that Alonso visited Ron Dennis on the morning of the Hungarian Grand Prix last month and "suggested" that he had information that would be of interest to the FIA in the Spygate trial (which this week indeed came out as fact). Did Alonso blackmail Dennis into giving him equal treatment? The favoritism immediately stopped and since then Alonso is beating Hamilton.
And why will the team continue to not show favoritism to Hamilton the remainder of the year? Because Alonso knows exactly how McLaren used the stolen Ferrari secrets (contrary to McLaren maintaining they used none of it) and will reveal to the world the facts should Dennis allow the team to favor Hamilton again. Now on equal footing, Alonso's intent for the remainder of the season is to bury Hamilton and all indications are that he will, having easily outpaced him since Hungary. Mark C.
