Champ Car schedule delayed

UPDATE The delay in the 2008 Champ Car schedule release is due to the fact that Champ Car had not finalized all their overseas race deals in time for the previous FIA meeting, but hopes to conclude those deals this week with Kevin Kalkhoven in Dubai meeting with Sheik Maktoum. The schedule then gets submitted to the FIA at their next meeting in about two weeks. Once the races are approved Champ Car will then be able to release their schedule in early to mid-November. AutoRacing1.com was originally told by Champ Car PR head David Higdon that he hoped to release the schedule by mid-October. At that time we told him that was not going to happen because FIA approval is needed and all the deals were not yet finalized. So indeed the schedule is delayed from what Champ Car had hoped.

10/14/07 We hear that Champ Car originally planned to release their 2008 schedule by mid-October but now we hear the earliest it is likely to come out is mid-November as it tries to finalize a much more international schedule. Meanwhile all other major race series have already released their 2008 schedule and locked up their TV inventory.
