Toyota tries to buy Alonso for big money
Fernando Alonso has turned down a £28million offer to drive for Toyota, the biggest salary in the history of Formula One.
On the eve of racing for a hat-trick of world titles, the Spaniard, who goes into the Brazilian Grand Prix four points behind his McLaren team-mate Lewis Hamilton, has rejected the stunning offer.
Money is no object to Toyota but what they could not offer Alonso is a competitive car. They have just 12 points this season compared to McLaren’s 107.
