The crown jewel of American motorsports has come to Heritage Museums & Gardens! Start Your Engines! Cars and Stars of the Indy 500 opened on April 14, 2018 featuring some of the most renowned cars from this high-octane event. Since 1911, the Indy 500 has captivated fans and created race car legends. Twenty iconic Indy 500 race and pace cars will be on display–from the 1914 Duesenberg driven by Eddie Rickenbacker to the 2016 NAPA winner driven by Alexander Rossi. The exhibit captures all the excitement of the Indy 500, with photos and videos from the races, race equipment worn by the winners, memorabilia, and the sights and sounds of the race. Visitors even have the chance to sit in a real Indy racer, re-enact what the winners do at the end of a race, and enjoy related programs and events.
