De la Rosa to be Hamilton’s teammate

Pedro de la Rosa has reportedly been promoted to pole position in the race to be Lewis Hamilton's team-mate at McLaren next season.

According to The Daily Mail, De la Rosa, who has been a test driver for the team for the past five years, 'has jumped to the head of a three-man shortlist to partner Hamilton.'

'The 36-year-old from Barcelona would fill the void with McLaren's Spanish sponsors created by the sacking of Fernando Alonso', claimed the newspaper.

'Rivals Heikki Kovalainen and Gary Paffett both appear to be losing support.'

The newspaper also says of De la Rosa, he 'will pose no threat to Hamilton's world title ambitions.'
