Filippi in running for Super Aguri seat
UPDATE This rumor is downgraded to 'false' with today's announcement that Filippi has signed to drive for former GP2 champions ART Grand Prix in next year's GP2 Series
12/12/07 (GMM) Luca Filippi is in the running to secure a formula one race seat in 2008, according to a Swiss newspaper report.
Blick, the high circulation daily, says the Italian is a contender to be Takuma Sato's new teammate at Super Aguri.
Leafield based Super Aguri is known to be struggling financially at present, and Blick claims that 22-year-old Filippi could bring around 10 million Euros to the team in the form of personal backing.
Filippi finished the 2007 GP2 championship in fourth place, driving for Super Nova.
He is also in the running to be Honda's new official test driver for 2008, but also ran in Super Aguri colors in the post-season Barcelona and Jerez tests.
