Formula 1 Managing Dir, Sean Bratches said that there is not a "city on the planet that better aligns with the sport's value than Miami" as talks open with Liberty Media about hosting a grand prix event in the city as early as '19, according to Sam Hall of AUTOWEEK.

Bratches said, "We received unanimous approval both at the city and the county level. But what that really means is it gives the city manager the authority now to enter into a long-form negotiation with us. So we’ve got some wood to chop, but we’re encouraged and we want to work with the bay-front park, the port, the city and the relative constituents to make sure we put on an event that works for everyone."

After the vote was cast on Thursday, Bratches flew to Miami to "commence initial talks."

He said, "It went well. … I don't know that there's a city on the planet that aligns with our brand more than Miami. We're both about celebrity, about glamor, about fashion." AutoWeek
