Monster Energy Open Qualifying Cancelled, Field Set By Owners Points

Persistent rain showers at Charlotte Motor Speedway forced NASCAR officials to cancel Friday's qualifying session for Saturday's Monster Energy Open and will set the starting lineup by owners points, putting Aric Almirola and Erik Jones on the front row for the 50-lap preliminary event that will proceed the Monster Energy NASCAR All Star Race.
Saturday's race will feature three stage segments – 20 laps, 20 laps and a final 10-lap shootout – with the winner of each segment advancing to the field for the All Star race.
Almirola has one All Star start under his belt in the 2015 event, starting eighth and finishing 14th. His best finish in the Open event was fifth back in 2014.
