Is Venezuela angling for an IndyCar race?

UPDATE Word on the street is that no American drivers are welcome to drive for any IndyCar or Grand-Am sponsored team that has Hugo Chavez/Venezuelan money behind it. How do we know this? American drivers who tried to get rides with those teams were told this in no uncertain terms according to our sources. Imagine that! Two American series that have teams where American drivers are not welcome. Should they be kicked out and told to take their money back to Venezuela?

06/25/08 From the things that make you go hmm…..department. Why is Hugo Chavez sponsoring two Indy cars in the IRL? This is the big story that Milka Duno’s handlers — this year and last year — are trying to keep buried. EJ Viso's sponsor is the parent company of CITGO. Because of Chavez's anti-Bush remarks CITGO is out of favor with many Americans, but uneducated Americans still send million of dollars in profits his way each and every day when they buy CITGO. It all sounds like CITGO wants to keep things a bit quiet until the political storm blows over…..but still the question begs to be asked, Why one car with CITGO sponsorship and one with backing from its parent company Petr¢leos de Venezuela (PDVSA)?
