F1 teams eye Pantano
Giorgio Pantano |
GP2 leader Giorgio Pantano is attracting interest from several Formula 1 teams, according to his current team boss Alfonso de Orleans Borbon. The Italian has had a previous and disappointing spell in the sport, failing to impress and eventually being replaced by Timo Glock at the Jordan team in 2004. However, he has been in great form in the F1 feeder series in 2008 and collected another win at Silverstone earlier this month.
"There's absolutely no reason not to have him in F1," de Orleans told GPWeek. "And from what I've heard from some F1 teams asking me questions, they wouldn't be asking… if they weren't interested."
Pantano remains keen to prove himself in the highest level of single seater racing, saying: "I'm just me and I just have to find the right people to go back to Formula 1. I'm trying to talk to see if there is any chance and then we'll see," he added to GPWeek. "The dream is very real and I am hungry."
