Oilers to sponsor Rahal in Edmonton

UPDATE #2 Clearly the Edmonton Sun had this rumor only partially correct. Per this press release, Rexall will be the primary sponsor for Rahal with a portion of the space dedicated to the Edmonton Oilers.

07/12/08 Will Daryl Katz sponsor an Oilers car in the Rexall Edmonton Indy? Has the new Oilers owner made a $500,000 donation to Paul Newman's Hole In The Wall Camps or a straight sponsorship deal with Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing at the same numbers to be able to run Oilers and/or Rexall logos on Graham Rahal's race car for the race?

Will Rahal and teammate Justin Wilson be promoted as "the home team" for the July 24-25 IndyCar Series race in Edmonton?

Sun Media is rumoring that Katz is putting together a one-race deal to sponsor Graham Rahal's No. 06 Hole In The Wall Camps car for the July 26 event. Both NHLR drivers have no knowledge of the deal and the team's PR person, Kathi Lauterbach, had her usual "nothing to report" reply so we'll just have to wait and see if it materializes.
