Button worried about Alonso rumors?
While veteran Rubens Barrichello would be the most likely to move aside should former world champion Alonso join the team, Briton Button is also out of contract at the end of this season.
But the 28-year-old sounded confident about his future when he spoke with reporters at the Valencia circuit.
"They are going to talk to other drivers, that's only natural. But I'm very happy with my position within the team," Button said.
"I'm not worried about myself."
In fact, Button welcomed the speculation about Alonso, after Barrichello on Thursday confirmed that Honda bosses are "definitely" in talks with the Spaniard.
"In a way, it's good the team are talking to someone like Alonso who has a lot of experience, and with good teams," Button explained.
Sitting alongside his current boss Flavio Briatore in the FIA press conference, however, Alonso played down the Honda chatter.
"Nothing is happening at all. I am not thinking of next year and will not until the end of the season," he said.
"I am not talking to anyone now at all. I am fully focused on this year's championship and I am not worried about next year."
Renault chief Briatore confirmed it is his aim to provide Alonso with a winning car for 2009 so the French team can "keep Fernando".
