Wheldon out, Junqueira in at Ganassi?

UPDATE #3 This rumor is downgraded to 'false' today if the September issue of IndyCar Series magazine can be believed. On page 9 it says, both Helio Castroneves (Penske) and Wheldon (Ganassi) have recently re-upped their contracts. Being the "official" magazine of the IndyCar Series, one would think they would have the skinny on this one.

08/22/08 We tried to press Dan Wheldon on whether he will drive for Ganassi after this year and he would only say that he "personally has not spoken at all to Chip about it. I am just worried about these last three races now and finishing the season as strong as possible."

When asked whether he was surprised that Chip has not spoken to him yet, his response was one word – "no." "I said that I have not spoken to Chip, but that doesn't mean Chip has not offered a renewal." So it may have come the way of team manager Mike Hull. Wheldon did his best to dodge the question and you could sense the urgency in his voice. He chose his words very carefully.

08/18/08 This SPEEDTV article by Robin Miller says Ganassi has reconsidering now that he lost Kanaan and Wheldon will probably be back in 2009.

08/11/08 On Wind Tunnel Sunday night Robin Miller rumored that Dan Wheldon most likely will not be back with the Target Chip Ganassi Racing (TCGR) team and rumored that Bruno Junqueira could likely be back at TCGR, a team that he has driven for in the past at Indy, but that Ganassi would also look at Graham Rahal, Will Power, Oriol Servia or even a driver from Europe.
