Did Wheldon bring out caution intentionally?

When Dan Wheldon hit a tire barrier on the 69th lap of Sunday's IndyCar race on Belle Isle, there were suspicions that Wheldon had taken one for Target Chip Ganassi Racing teammate Scott Dixon, the series points leader who was running in fifth place behind Helio Castroneves of the Team Penske.

Wheldon crashed well back in the pack, and the two-lap yellow flag allowed Dixon to close the gap. But Wheldon had previously radioed the pits that he was having gearbox trouble, and Mario Moraes also missed a turn and stopped on the track on the same lap, so the yellow flag would have come out anyway.
