Engine freeze disparity fix looms – Briatore

(GMM) A remedy to the current situation of engine disparity amongst the F1 teams may be in sight, Renault boss Flavio Briatore hinted at Monza.

The French squad believes it has fallen behind amid the current 'engine freeze' because it has adhered to the letter of the rules, while some competitors add performance under the guise of reliability or economical gains.

"We are discussing it with the other teams to find a solution," Briatore is quoted as saying by Spain's AS newspaper, amid rumors that Renault may have fallen as much as 25 horse power behind the likes of frontrunners Ferrari.

"The engines were frozen but three teams took advantage of their reliability problems to improve," the Italian continued.

"I have discussed it several times with Max Mosley, and at the end of the season it could all be solved."
