Chevy Volt to get 100+ mpg rating

General Motors Corp. has reached agreement with U.S. regulators at a staff level that could result in the Chevrolet Volt range-extended electric vehicle receiving a 100-mile-per-gallon fuel economy rating, the company said

GM spokesman Dee Allen said the rating is far from set, stressing that what has been agreed to on a preliminary basis is that the Volt would be classified as an electric vehicle for the purpose of fuel-economy ratings.

If that is made certain, he said, then the Volt, due out in November 2010, would likely receive a rating of 100 miles per gallon or better.

Now if everyone would buy electric cars (with batteries charged from electricity from nuclear power plants) in the next 20 years as we have suggested then the USA dependence on foreign oil would be near zero and we could tell the terrorist harboring countries that sell oil at ridiculous prices, such as Saudi Arabia and Iran, to go pound sand……of which they have plenty of.
