IndyCar TV schedule

UPDATE This rumor is upgraded to 'fact' today. The IndyCar Series will begin assessing the virtues of the Versus television network as soon as the 2009 season begins. The cable network new to motor sports will open its coverage of Indy Racing League events with the season-opening race in St. Petersburg, Fla., on April 5. Versus, formerly known as the Outdoor Life Network and now owned by Comcast, will have 13 IndyCar races next season, including the first three before giving way to ABC for the Indianapolis 500. Versus' 10-year contract calls for expanded programming and three-hour windows for races.

ABC's four other races are bunched in a six-race stretch that includes Milwaukee (May 31); Newton, Iowa (June 21); Watkins Glen, N.Y. (July 5) and the series' inaugural race in Toronto (July 12).

Neither network has announced its broadcast team. IndyStar

09/26/08 Rumor has it that the Indy 500, Milwaukee, Iowa, Watkins Glen, and Toronto IndyCar races will be telecast on ABC in 2009. Versus will broadcast the rest.
