Formula BMW finale in Mexico to be cancelled
This may be the saddest news in Mexican motorsport since the Formula 1 left the country in 1992, and again the people responsible are the Abed family.
The Abed family is well known in Mexico in the world of motorsports and they own the race track in Puebla where the WTCC races, but this track is well under the needed specs for a world event, but because Jose Abed is vice president of FIA they are allowed to race there. The Abed family thinks they can push the F-BMW World Final and the Formula 1 BMW-Sauber show to their track because they have a personal fight with the promoter of the BMW event in Mexico, the Suverville family, the same families that promote in the WRC event in Leon.
This is a sad story and the fans in Mexico are besides themselves we hear. Esteban Gutierrez is the European F-BMW champion and the best hope for Mexico to have a driver in F1, and all this politics and nonsense from the Abed family is hurting him and the fans.
If their plan goes through they are also going to kill the A1GP and Grand Am events we hear.
