MIS to replace Belle Isle?

"MIS president Roger Curtis, whose track hosts two NASCAR events next year (June 14 and August 16), also was disappointed with the news.

"Our core business is NASCAR, but the IRL has always been important to MIS," Curtis said. "It's never been MIS vs. Belle Isle.

"(But) it's definitely worth a phone call to the IRL (about the possibility of bringing the race to MIS).

"The calendar is certainly not an issue. The concept is very exciting. We'll have to see what happens." Detroit News
