Rubicon and Pacific Coast to merge
01/23/09
Question: I have done some research on this. I believe that Buddy Rice will retain his seat at D&R. This being because he has sponsor money for the 2009 season, Dad's Root Beer. The person who might be left out is Darren Manning, who could use SAMAX's money for a seat. (TJ, Athens, Ga.)
Answer: Robbie Buhl made it pretty clear that Rice won't be returning to D&R, and after some digging I think it's fair to say the most likely scenario would be to put Rice and Rubicon in the same sentence. By the way, Rubicon and Pacific Coast have officially merged, although they have not finalized sponsorships to determine how many races they'll participate in. Therefore, they have not signed a driver, although they want a veteran and have targeted Rice. Stay tuned for that one. I still think it's possible we'll see Darren Manning in Sarah Fisher's car for the road/street circuits. But that's a ways from being decided. Indy Star
