Dan Clarke eyes IndyCar return

Dan Clarke, who made his A1GP debut in New Zealand over the weekend, has hailed the series that he would love to become a more regular fixture in. Team GBR’s regular driver Danny Watts was unavailable for the event, giving former Champ Car racer Clarke his chance.
The 25-year-old, who finished 12th both races on Sunday, after being given a hugely limited amount of time, told setanta.com: “I think anyone that has watched A1GP can see that it’s a great series of racing.
“There’s great hospitality here and TV coverage all around the world. I think you’d be hard pushed to criticize it really."
Clarke feels the in the competitive world of open-wheel motorsports, where series battle to be known as the best of the rest after Formula 1, A1GP – the cars in which are now powered by Ferrari engines – has found a good spot.
He said: “There are a lot of series out there, but A1GP has got its own niche, especially now with the support of Ferrari."
“But that was a decision that I made because there wasn’t an opportunity that I considered strong enough for me to show my potential in previous years, when I had a very good team."
Clarke, who still resides in the United States, has admitted he would jump at the chance of more A1GP opportunities, but is currently involved in negotiations with IndyCar teams with regard to a potential race seat.
