‘Barrichello has deal with Honda’

UPDATE #2 This rumor is now 'fact' with today's announcement – see Hot News Page.

03/03/09 Although it is understood that a final contract has not yet been signed, Autosport reports that high level sources close to the Brackley-based team have confirmed that Barrichello has been given the nod to line up alongside Jenson Button in 2009. The team are awaiting the final green light from the Honda Motor Company for the imminent management buyout led by Ross Brawn and Nick Fry, and only when that happens will the 2009 deals be finalized.

03/02/09 Rumor has it that Rubens Barrichello has a new deal with the ex-Honda team (possibly named Brawn Racing) for 2009 and will be testing the car at Silverstone this week. Chances of the popular Brazilian retaining his drive increased last week, with a management buyout of the team now looking more likely. Barrichello, the most experienced man in F1, was retained for 2009 and is expected to be at Silverstone this week for a shakedown of the new car.
