The 2012 Dallara DW12 Honda Indy Car, that won the 100th Running of the Indy 500 with Alexander Rossi at the wheel sold for $1,127,500 this past weekend at the Mecum auction.

Dallara DW12 chassis no. 037 was offered as displayed with no engine currently installed.

The Dallara chassis is under a transferable signed loan agreement with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum to be on display through December 31, 2018.

An optional engine lease can be activated at the discretion of the buyer in a separate agreement with Honda Performance Development starting after September 2020.

Optional engine lease requirements are listed below (please note that these requirements will not be enforced should the buyer decline to activate the engine lease agreement).

The actual 2016 Indianapolis 500 winning Honda 2.2 liter twin-turbocharged V-6 racing engine will be offered under strict terms of a unique 99-year engine lease.

Terms of the optional engine lease include engine rebuild and IndyCar ECU costs estimated to be more than $125,000 that are solely the responsibility of the buyer.

The optional lease also includes a required agreement to display the car at Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum in April, May and June of each year.

After January 1, 2019 there are no restrictions related to the Dallara chassis, however agreeing to the optional engine lease supersedes this statement and requires acceptance of the specific terms set forth by Honda Performance Development.

The buyer of this lot will be required by Mecum Auctions to acknowledge the terms of the optional engine lease on the auction block at the time of sale.
