Adam Carroll eyes F1

Irish A1 Grand Prix driver Adam Carroll has revealed that he is in discussions with a number of Formula One teams with a view to taking part in next season's F1 World Championship.

An Irish driver has not been involved in Formula One since the retirement of Eddie Irvine seven years ago. Carroll has also been speaking to teams in the Indy Racing League, the American equivalent of Formula One.

However, Carroll said his initial priority was his current involvement with the Ireland team in the A1GP series, the penultimate round of which takes place the weekend after next at Brands Hatch. Ireland currently trail leaders Switzerland by just two points after an impressive campaign. The final race of the season takes place in Mexico City.
