Pontiac teams to switch to Chevy

With GM announcing that they were going to shut down the Pontiac brand, hot rumor here in the NJ Motorsports Park paddock is that the teams will switch to the Chevy brand either later this year or for the 2010 season. The only factory Pontiac teams left are the Gainsco Pontiac Prototype team and the No. 77 GT Pontiac team. All the rest run as independents. Wayne Taylor's SunTrust team and Krohn Racing previously switched to Ford when they saw the writing on the wall. Recall that back in 2004 Tony Stewart and Dale Earnhardt Jr. drove a Chevy in the Rolex 24 and the exact same car ran as a Pontiac the next race with the identical car. In France family run race series, you simple change the decals on the car to switch brands. The majority of their series are spec cars for the most part. Mark C. reporting from South Jersey
