Scheckter to Conquest, or is it Coyne?

UPDATE #3 This rumor first broke by AR1.com that Scheckter would have Mona Vie backing is now upgraded to 'fact'. From Indycar.com: Tomas Scheckter will attempt to make his eighth consecutive start in the Indianapolis 500. The veteran driver, who finished fourth in the race in 2003, will drive the No. 19 MONA-VIE entry for Dale Coyne Racing. Scheckter will be reunited with engineer Bill Pappas, with whom he worked while driving for Target Chip Ganassi Racing in 2003.

Tomas Scheckter

TOMAS SCHECKTER: "I'm happy to be here and looking forward to it. I had a great run at Indy with (engineer) Bill (Pappas), and I like what Dale (Coyne) has done with the team and Justin (Wilson) has done in the car. I'm confident (Pappas) can give me a good car, and what's also good is that we don't have to build a relationship. We understand each other. Hopefully we can get up to speed quickly and start moving the program forward."

DALE COYNE: "We were working on several things in the offseason and talking to him for a while. This kind of came together late, but we have a good second car, and Tomas knows how to get around this place, so we should be fine. Tomas and Justin (Wilson) will be a nice combination."

05/15/09 Another rumor in the paddock says Scheckter signed with Dale Coyne Racing at the last minute instead of Conquest. If true we should see Scheckter on track today.

05/13/09 This rumor is upgraded to 'strong' today as we now hear that Scheckter to Conquest is a done deal.

05/12/09 Rumor in the Indy paddock is that Tomas Scheckter will try to qualify one of Conquest Racing's cars in this year's Indy 500 this coming weekend. One source of funding might be, Mona Vie, the Açaí Berry high anti-oxidant drink, to the tune of around $150K. Stay tuned as we investigate whether there is any truth to this rumor…..
