Ferrari & Mercedes take conservative approach to US GP tire choice

Mercedes and Ferrari have taken a similar 'harder' approach regarding their tire compound choices for the United States Grand Prix on October 19-21.

Pirelli has nominated the Ultrasoft (Purple), Supersoft (red), Soft (yellow) tire compounds in order to cope with the demands of the Circuit Of The Americas race track.

Each driver is permitted 13 sets of tires for each weekend, from which they are permitted free choice of the three nominated compounds for 10 of the sets.
