The FIA Formula 3 Championship promoter is pleased to announce that ten teams have been entered for the 2019 season. Seven of these outfits are currently competing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship (ART Grand Prix, Campos Racing, Carlin, Charouz Racing System, MP Motorsport, Prema Racing and Trident) whilst Jenzer Motorsport are no strangers to the paddock having successfully competing in all seasons of GP3. Hitech Grand Prix and HWA RACELAB complete the grid; they both have a proven record of success in other categories.
Each F3 team will enter three cars making it a thirty-car grid. The 2019 FIA Formula 3 car will be unveiled next month in the Formula 1 paddock at the Yas Marina Circuit during the final F1 Grand Prix weekend.
The teams will receive their first car in January 2019 after which a shakedown will be organized at a venue and date announced in due course.
FIA Formula 3 CEO Bruno Michel said: “I am pleased to confirm our line-up for the 2019 FIA Formula 3 season, and I would like to welcome these ten teams to this new challenge.
“This championship stems from the merge of the FIA F3 European Championship and the GP3 Series. It is an inherent part of the single-seater pyramid first leading to Formula 2 and then to Formula 1. All FIA Formula 3 race events will run alongside F1.
“We have received a lot of requests from high quality outfits who wished to join our Championship. It has been a complex process to narrow the list down to ten teams but we believe that they are the strongest candidates. It will be very interesting to see them fight for wins and the title next year."
