Daytona 500 might sellout

Daytona International Speedway president Robin Braig said he expects a "full house" for the Feb. 14 Daytona 500 after being asked about ticket sales. "The recovery of the (ticket) renewals were less than expected and we did not pace throughout the year ahead of last year's sales," Braig said. "We are picking up, so we expect to have a full house."

Braig said the frontstretch grandstand seats are nearly sold out and that all suites in the tri-oval area are spoken for. "We have only a few suites left on the backstretch," he said.

Braig said the economy has affected all forms of entertainment, including sports. "The Super Bowl is not sold out and neither are the playoff games, or Disney or Universal or anybody else," he said. "I'm not trying to make excuses here, but we won't be the only major sports facility that may not have a sellout." Daytona Beach News Journal
