Campos hopes to solve team problems by Monday
Amid intense speculation about the health of the Spanish foray Campos Meta 1, and claims it will have to hand back its official entry for 2010, 49-year-old team principal Campos spoke to Britain's BBC Sport.
"We are trying to have everything solved on Monday — and people are saying a lot of stupid things. Some are true and some are not," said the former Minardi driver.
"We are working very hard to be in Bahrain," he added.
But Campos would not confirm that a part of the team is to be sold to the South African entrepreneur Tony Teixeira.
"The problem is we have confidentiality clauses in everything we are doing," he said.
He did however admit that payments to the team's Italian car constructor Dallara have not always been on time.
"Sometimes we pay the 7m Euros (installment) to Dallara and sometimes we don't have the money. We are trying to solve the problem," said Campos.
He denied Dallara have grown tired of waiting for the money and instead sold the 2010 car to hopeful entrant Stefan GP.
"No, they (Dallara) can't do that — we have a contract with them," Campos said.
02/05/10 (GMM) Reports persist that the clock is running down on Campos' embattled formula one project.
Multiple reports this week said the hopeful entrant Stefan GP may have bought the rights to Campos' 2010 car, whose constructor Dallara is apparently owed money by the Spanish team.
It would mean that, even if Stefan does not intend to race the Dallara car, Campos would be unable to fulfill its 2010 entry obligations even if its financial position improves.
But in reaction to the reports, Campos said its agreement with Dallara remains "in place", even though the Italian constructor could provide "other, more limited engineering or design services to other teams".
However, Spain's Diario AS newspaper reports that Friday is a key deadline in the health of the Campos foray.
The article said that if Campos' debt is not dissolved by February 5, the Dallara car "becomes the property of Stefan GP".
"The Italian constructor is unwilling to wait any longer, especially now that a buyer for the cars that were destined for Campos has entered the scene," AS added.
02/04/10 (GMM) The ambitious Stefan GP outfit may have this week hammered the final nail into the coffin of the 2010 formula one entrant Campos.
Germany's Auto Motor und Sport, and Finland's Turun Sanomat, report that notwithstanding A1 boss Tony Teixeira's desire to buy into Campos, the Spanish team may be unable to race this season.
Because Campos fell behind in payments to its car constructor Dallara, the Italian company may have sold the rights to Campos' car to Stefan GP.
It means that even if Campos comes up with the money to pay its overdue bills, including to the engine supplier Cosworth, it will not have a car for 2010.
Stefan GP reportedly does not intend to actually use the Campos/Dallara chassis, because it is well advanced with preparations to run Toyota's 2010 package.
In addition to Kazuki Nakajima and Ralf Schumacher, also Jacques Villeneuve is being linked with Stefan's 2010 plans.
It means Bruno Senna's grand prix debut is now uncertain, and the Brazilian admitted on Wednesday that Campos will "hopefully" begin winter testing "in the near future".
