MotoGP series organizers made the decision as it became clear that it would impossible for personnel and equipment to arrive in Japan on time as the volcanic ash clouds cause widespread flight cancellations across Europe.

Autosport.com rumors that MotoGP organizer Dorna will announce on Monday that the Japanese Grand Prix will be rescheduled for 1-3 October, just before the Malaysian and Australian GPs. The volcanic eruption at Eyjafjallajoekull in Iceland has closed airspace across much of Europe, leading to huge problems for teams trying to travel around the world for motorsport events.
