Cosworth to also lose Williams team to Renault
It is rumored that Williams is particularly unhappy with the performance degradation of Cosworth's 2010 engine.
But chief executive Adam Parr is quoted by motorsport-aktuell.com: "I am satisfied with them (Cosworth), we are not looking at other engines."
He added that Williams and Cosworth are working on how to maintain the performance of the engines as they accumulate more kilometers.
"This is definitely something on which they are working and where they have already made progress," confirmed technical director Sam Michael.
However, the Renault package looked particularly strong in Monaco recently, where the Red Bulls as well as the works car of Robert Kubica dominated qualifying and the famous street race.
"I think the Renault engine is very competitive," Sir Frank Williams noted in the Principality.
"It is a great engine, especially on this track," he added.
On the Grove based team's current Cosworth units, Williams added: "We would always like more horse power, but it's not a bad engine."
05/21/10 This rumor is downgraded to 'false' today. Kevin Kalkhoven told AutoRacing1.com that the Autosprint rumors are nonsense.
"We are extremely demanding of Cosworth because we want to get everything right, but they ask us to be like that as well," Williams technical director Sam Michael told AUTOSPORT. "They want to be pushed because they don't want to be seen to be an engine that is just making up the numbers. And the only way they won't be like that is if they respond to us."
Williams CEO Adam Parr added: "I am happy with them and we are not looking at anyone else.
"But what I would say, and I think they have said too, is that the engine is good, we had very good pre-season testing, but we have had problems during the season with unexpected degradation issues.
"That has led to reliability issues because things are not lasting. So there is a requirement for some relatively simple changes to address those problems, but we are working on it."

05/21/10 (GMM) Cosworth's best team, Williams, has emerged as a third possible recipient of Renault engines for the 2011 season. After the French marque said it has the capacity to add more teams to its current F1 roster, it was rumored that the hopeful newcomers ART could be eyeing Renault power.
Reports then emerged that the new Cosworth-powered Lotus team might be contemplating a change of engine supplier. Now, Italy's Autosprint reports that Williams – openly not entirely happy with its current Cosworth engines – is already in talks with Renault.
There may also be a link between the Williams/Renault talks, and rumors that Renault's former long-time engineering director Pat Symonds could soon be a consultant to the design of Williams' forthcoming FW33 car.
Renault currently supplies the team that bears its name, as well as the dominant Red Bull Racing, and Renault's head of engine operations Remi Taffin said: "We still do not know how it will be in 2011.
"But we do know that we have the ability to assist more than two teams."
