The 2019 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship officially kicked off today with ROAR Before the 24 at Daytona International Speedway. Juncos Racing’s No. 50 Cadillac DPi-V.R entry made its official IMSA debut with drivers Rene Binder, Kyle Kaiser, Will Owen, and Agustin Canapino on the 3.56 mile road course.

Juncos Racing unveiled their Cadillac DPi-V.R car featuring the team’s well known green, white, and orange livery at the track on Thursday. All four Juncos Racing drivers turned in laps during the first two test sessions of the week, posting the sixth fastest time overall.

Agustin Canapino was the quickest among the Juncos Racing driver line-up overall, posting the fastest lap for the team during the second test session. The Roar Before the 24 will continue tomorrow with three test sessions.

Agustin Canapino (Arrecifes, Buenos Aires, Argentina): “Our first day is complete at the ROAR. I am very happy with our Cadillac DPi-V.R car and how we worked as a team. The final session today was a little difficult as we had to deal some rain. We were only able to record three clean laps, one with a little traffic and the other two with a lot of traffic. However, I am very happy with how we finished the day overall. This team is incredible. The Cadillac DPi-V.R car is incredible. The driver line-up is amazing. Congrats to Ricardo (Juncos) and all of the team for a great first day on track. We have a great future ahead of us!"

Will Owen (Castle Rock, Colorado): “The first day at the ROAR was a lot of fun. We turned in some valuable laps in our first official day on track. We tested here last month and the conditions were quite different than they were today, so it made this mornings session a little tricky. Overall we learned a lot and gathered some great data during our first official sessions. Right now we are concentrating on getting all four drivers up to speed and making sure all of our feedback is lining up so we are on the same page. Next we will work on driver changes and then the final details to the Cadillac DPi-V.R car as we prepare for the race."

Rene Binder (Innsbruck, Austria): “For my first time at Daytona, it was a pretty good experience. The circuit was not like any other that I have been on before. I needed some laps to get used to the circuit, used to the banking, and the oval portions. Overall everything went well and I really enjoyed driving the Cadillac DPi-V.R car for the first time. The power the Cadillac has is amazing, so I am ready to get back in for some more laps tomorrow."

Kyle Kaiser (Santa Clara, California): “We just finished off the first day here in Daytona. Unfortunately I got caught up in the session where a little bit of rain came in. I was trying to get my bearings and learn about the track since this is my first time here in Daytona. Overall the Cadillac DPi-V.R car felt great. My teammates are great. We are all working very well together to make sure everyone is getting up to speed. Great job by Juncos, and I am very thankful for Cadillac. I am looking forward to getting more track time tomorrow and the following day to get comfortable and prepare for the race."
