D&R working on permanent Rahal deal

Dreyer & Reinbold Racing is rumored to be working on a permanent deal with Graham Rahal, kicking off with a drive in the Iowa event.

Rahal will be subbing for injured Mike Conway. Though Tomas Scheckter raced at Texas Speedway Larry Curry favors an extended deal with Rahal.

"I hope this is the beginning of many races with Graham…We will certainly look at that and I'm sure discussions will continue into next week about what we can do beyond Iowa."

It was expected that Conway's seat would be filled by drivers who could bring money to the team, but Curry said that is not the plan.

"We've worked really hard to improve the credibility of this team, if we put someone in who doesn't have the talent but has a lot of money, then we're back to square one. We feel that Graham is an incredible talent, and to get him shows we're serious and competitive."
