Barnhart already has chosen Dallara
02/06/10 This SPEEDTV.com article exposes Brian Barnhart for what he is what he is trying to do to ensure a foreign company, Dallara, wins the 2012 IndyCar chassis contract. Barnhart is doing things that officials used to do in USAC that caused the CART breakaway.
02/06/10 Rumor in IndyCar circles is that IRL President Brian Barnhart has already chosen Dallara to supply the 2012 IndyCar. Rumor has it he hates change and will not risk another company building the cars.
After other companies came forward and said they can produce the car 55% cheaper in the USA, company boss Gian Paolo Dallara said in a release, "The new Dallara Indy car will be built in Speedway, Ind., and it will set new standards in terms of safety, fuel efficiency, raceability, technology performance and cost containment. We can achieve all of these objectives."
Why did they put out their concept designs and make this statement ahead of the Delta Wing project unveiling next week at the Chicago Auto Show? Did Barnhart put him up to it? Where were they all these years charging the team outrageous prices by building the car in Italy where the exchange rate between the American dollar and the Euro was a killer? Why does the IRL continue to give the contract to a foreign company instead of an American company?
Dallara is one of four groups hoping to lure IndyCar's business. The others are Lola, Swift and Ben Bowlby's design, known as the Delta Wing project that will be unveiled next week at the Chicago Auto Show. However, AR1 sources are 99.99% sure Barnhart will find a way to pick Dallara.
