Texas IndyCar race date to change
UPDATE IndyCar is coming back to Mid-Ohio next year. And Indianapolis is a certainty. As for the rest of IndyCar's 2011 schedule? Well, CEO Randy Bernard says you'll just have to wait and see. Bernard said on Saturday the series was still working on its 2011 schedule, one that could see plenty of changes. He'd like to unveil the schedule by the end of the month, though it may take longer to iron out the details. Bernard would like the series to have at least 17 races next year, but won't commit to a specific number. "The promoters and the courses that want to grow the series, we'll continue to do business with," he said. "If you're not in that ballpark, we're probably going to let you go."
08/05/10 Traditionally the race after the Indy 500 on the IndyCar schedule, rumor has it that Texas Motor Speedway's IndyCar date might change in 2011 with the race running before the Indy 500. As it looks now, there would have been no oval race on the 2011 IndyCar schedule prior to the Indy 500 if the Kansas race goes away as rumored, and the desire is to have at least one.
In another related rumor, the spring Texas NASCAR race might to earlier in the schedule to take the spring Atlanta race date after it was announced today Atlanta would lose that race. Alternately, Texas would become the IndyCar season opener in early in early March rather than take the early May Kansas date.
