Baltimore date could change

08/10/10 Word is that Chicago, which has the Labor Day weekend IndyCar event this year, could take Baltimore's August 7th date and Baltimore could get the Labor Day weekend date.

08/05/10 The date of the Baltimore IndyCar race isn't set, though officials announced in June that it would be held Aug. 5-7, 2011. It may be moved to Labor Day weekend or another weekend in late summer, provided the date doesn't conflict with the Ravens' and Orioles' home schedules.

Similarly, the precise route and distance of the course – unveiled at 2.4 miles – may be tweaked further, insiders say, although signature landmarks such as Baltimore's Inner Harbor will anchor the race.

Recall that we stated that Baltimore can be very hot and humid in August. If race fans bake and sweat in hot sun and are otherwise uncomfortable, they won't return and the race will eventually fail.
